CLEARFIELD - Hugh R. Dotts, 84, of Clearfield, and formerly of Glen Hope, went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 2024.
He was a 1957 graduate of Moshannon Valley (Joint) High School in Madera.
Hugh, affectionately known as Hughie or Huggie, was born to Richard Sr. and Goldie (Mullens) Dotts on Aug. 7, 1939 in Irvona.
On Nov. 8, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Grampian, he wed Bonnie L (Wriglesworth) Dotts. She preceded him in death Jan. 16, 2020.
Hugh was a sewing machine mechanic for Campo Slacks, a heavy equipment operator for Hepburnia Coal Company and machine mechanic for Dupont, retiring in 2001.
Hugh is survived by three children, Beth Ann Caldwell (Richard) of Curwensville, David (Joanne) of Houtzdale, and Scott (Lynne) of West Decatur. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ashley, Aimee, Allyssa, Alan, Andy, Tyler and Joshua; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Jr. of Glen Hope, Chris (Peggy Murawski) of Brisbin, and Randy (Alma) of Glen Hope.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and sisters-in-law, Mable Dotts and Ann Dotts.
Friends will be received Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before the service on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Lloyd-Dimmick Funeral Home, Inc., 95 Rose St., Irvona, with the Rev. Adam Dotts officiating.
Military services will be held following the service by members of Janesville VFW.
Hugh will be laid to rest at Fruit Hill Cemetery at 120 Fruit Hill Rd., New Millport.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
